KMA GROUP SHOW
"KMA Group Show" was the first group exhibition at Krome Gallery after almost one year of operation. The works on view were installation-based comprising of a wide range of media from sculpture to photography, painting, sound and graphic design.
The abbreviation "KMA" of the exhibition title stood for the venue's site, Karl-Marx-Allee, and acknowledges the influence architecture has on the gallery's programming. More specifically, the works selected for this exhibition can be linked on different levels to the historical, political and aesthetical implications of the boulevard which had a highly representational function during the GDR era.
This group exhibition thereby points to the issue of collective representation and its boundaries, whether referring to exhibition discourses or political ideas in general.
