The sculptural practice of Darri Lorenzen renders the representation of space to destabilize expected viewpoints. In framing one's phenomenological engagement with place to offer reorientated effects, Lorenzen questions how we use space and what we determine as valuable information. His practice is analogous with the enquiring gaze of Structuralist filmmaking. It selects to map the acqusition of knowledge differently.
Through presenting ready-mades found at a site, enacting subtle architectural interventions, developing self-organising web portals and publications, Lorenzen draws attention to the space of production as much as the contained content. In turn, the situations that Lorenzen sets up invite an understanding of representation as constantly recalibrating and produced of various positions in relation to a shared context.
Darri Lorenzen also contributes to the think-tank web portal of rhei.is and is editor of regular-issue.com
